US Fellow Students at Chambers

Normanton Chambers and The Lex Fellowship organised a US Law students visit to our Chambers located at 218 Strand in London. They came from some of the top US universities (Berkley, Kansas, Los Angeles, Virginia and George Washington University among others).

The students really enjoyed the morning as they interacted lively with Martin Davies, León Fernando Del Canto, Claudio Rodriguez and I. We discussed the work of Barristers, the International Practice of Law, the role of the EU registered lawyer. Our Chambers’ Director, Martin, presented some of the not-so-well-known “mysteries” of running a set of chambers and the important role played by Barristers’ Clerks.

We offered some insights on Helena Normanton QC and her importance as the first woman being called to the Bar in 1919 and practicing as a barrister. Normanton is still a referent in activism and feminism but overall she was a brilliant and very successful barrister. The students enjoyed a wonderful lunch meal and visit Middle Temple and a visit to the Lincoln’s Inn library and barristers’ tea room.
